Today is Trish’s birthday and Emma and Cade are presenting her with a cake, well brownies and candles.
Today I did two shows at St. Andrews school here in Nassau. I haven’t been at this school for 7 years and was interested in performing there because it meant performing for Bahamian students. I spend my life performing for students in the US but hardly for Bahamians and having the opportunity to do shows for my people is a treat. It is now that I recognize my role here as more than entertainment but truly a tradition bearer, a chance to educate these students about their cultural heritage. Today I performed for 7th and 8th grade and they were delightful. Highly responsive, reactive and open to everything I did.
We arrived here on Tuesday and since then I’ve been working non stop doing various projects including performances and workshops. This time is completely filled with work before we go to Florida to do two concerts with Voice of the Turtle then back to Boston.
